Beijing Olympics latest medal standing cannot be determined yet in terms of which country will be the overall champion after four (4) days of the competition. China, USA and Korea are still on the top list with the most medals already won.
But what is exciting here is that numerous Olympics and world records already set. One of it is in Swimming Matt Grevers of USA made new World Record in the men’s 4×100m Relay. He anchored the relay and clocked in 47.77. Marking Matt’s Life Time Personal Best Time, this was the second fastest split of the American team. The U.S. recaptured the World Record in 2006 and now reestablished a new World Record in the preliminaries with a time of 3:12.23. The former World Record was 3:12.46.
Grevers sets new Olympics records in 100m Backstroke preliminary heats the fastest time in the history of the Olympic Games. He sets new Olympic Record in the 100m Backstroke with the time of 53.41. His time would have won him an Olympic Gold medal at every Olympics in history. Matt has the fastest time as he enters into the semi-finals of the 100m Backstroke.
Leisel Jones of Australia also sets new Olympics record in swimming with 1.05.63 in the women’s 100-metres breaststroke at the Water Cube in Beijing.
