The Filipino  people were shocked to hear the news today about the present health condition of our former President Corazon C. Aquino. According to her daughter, actress and host Kris Aquino in an interview with Korina Sanchez an ABS-CBN senior correspondent, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Her mother had undergone tests after suffering from high blood pressure and difficulty breathing during the Christmas and New Year holidays, which were followed by persistent coughs and weight loss. 

Aquino, 74, was put into power by the peaceful “people power” revolution that ousted the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos in 1986. I mention the former in my post yesterday, March 23, 2008 entitled “powerful women in the world” where she is the first woman president of the Philippines and the first woman leader in Asia.

Even now,  she continues her quest in the fight for the government corruption where, she has been attending rallies calling for the resignation of current Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Cancer of the colon is treatable in its early age, but the problem is that it will only show its signs and symptoms at a later stage. Former President Reagan of United States was also diagnosed to have the same kind of cancer.
