Harrises are not big lottery players. Robert said “What are you going to do if you win $275,000,000 in a lottery?” US$ 1100 000 000 000? I don’t know how much it is in pesos a 1.1trillion? Can you answer simply “Live Happy” as what the 47-year-old iron worker Robert Harris answered when asked after winning mega millions jackpot- the largest prize won by a single player in Georgia USA Lottery history. He bought the ticket using his grandchildren’s birthdays for the numbers. Robert and his wife bought two $1 dollar ticket, they did not even watch the draw, thinking there was no chance to win the lottery. Only their daughter delivered them the good news that they won.
The first day, Saturday morning Robert informed his boss he would not be coming back for work again, after 20 years of overtime just to make ends meet. But Tonya Harris said the money doesn’t mean they’ll stop being the simple folks they’ve always been.
Lucky for both of them. They can even show their faces to TVs and cameras. They could shout to all people that they won. You can‘t do that in the Philippines. After winning even a small amout of money, your life will be in endangered. As what we have seen over the news about lotto winner being killed by his adopted son. Lotto winner’s life sometimes turn miserable since from then on you cannot live a simple life.
But the biggest lottery prize ever won was in 2007 amounting to $390 million but by two persons: Ed Nabors, from Rocky Face, Georgia and by Elaine and Harold Messner, a couple from Cape May County in New Jersey - the richest lottery prize in U.S. history. Or maybe in the world.
