Oprah Winfrey started a talk show called “People are Talking” in 1978, and when she heard there was an opening in Chicago for a talk show host, a lot of people including her thought she wouldn’t get the job because according to her, she was overweight, black and not blond.

She never forget  that moment when she was sitting in Dennis Swanson’s office- he’s the Head of ABC’s Chicago Station WLS-TV. She was auditioning for host of the talk show “AM Chicago” which later became “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He was telling her “I think you have the gift and I’d like you to share it with this television station”.

That was in 1983 and now Oprah is the highest paid TV personality by Forbes Magazine. Below are others who also made it to the list of Forbes‘ highest  paid TV personalities:
